Ellyse Perry back on top as T20 World No.1

Ellyse Perry has returned to the top of the Women’s T20 Player Index for the first time in over four years.

The Australian allrounder, who last topped the charts in November 2019, has climbed 10 places following strong performances for Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Women’s Premier League.

In the WPL, she won the orange cap as the competition’s leading run-scorer (347 runs) and took seven wickets to help the RCB franchise lift their first men’s or women’s silverware.

Fellow Australian Grace Harris is up six places to No.2. She bludgeoned 501 runs at a strike rate of 165.89 as Brisbane Heat reached the final of the WBBL.

New Zealand international Amelia Kerr has moved into third place following strong all-round performances in the WBBL, WPL and Women’s Super Smash.

In the latter, she topped both the batting and bowling charts as Wellington captured the title, scoring 437 runs at a strike rate of 125.93 and taking 20 wickets. She was player of the match in a low-scoring final, scoring a run-a-ball 35.

Nat Sciver-Brunt is the top-ranked English player in fourth while former No.1 Sophie Ecclestone completes the top five.

Beth Mooney (Australia), Marizanne Kapp (South Africa), Ashleigh Gardner (Australia), Hayley Matthews (West Indies), and Deepti Sharma (India) make up the rest of the top 10.

Elsewhere, a trio of Zimbabwe internationals have catapulted themselves over 100 places into the top 50 after impressing on the international stage. Josephine Nkomo, Precious Marange, Nomvelo Sibanda sit 34th, 38th and 48th, respectively.

However, one of the biggest movers is India off-spinner Shreyanka Patil, whose impressive bowling during the WPL has seen her rise 170 places to 166th. Patil claimed the purple cap after taking a tournament-leading 13 wickets, including remarkable figures of 4 for 12 against Delhi Capitals in the final.
