26 Apr Suryakumar Yadav hits career high in latest T20 World Rankings
Suryakumar Yadav is the big winner in the latest men’s T20 Player Index after climbing to career-high No.6 in the latest rankings.
An encouraging start to his Indian Premier League season with Mumbai Indians has seen him score two half-centuries in five innings and achieve a strike rate of 166, leaving him within touching distance of the top three.
Wanindu Hasaranga has extended his stay at the top of the Men’s T20 Player Index, and leads Will Jacks by 103 points.
The Sri Lankan No.1 has held the ranking since September 2023 but hasn’t played a T20 match since March.
Jacks, who has retained his spot despite an uneven start to his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, is one of two England internationals in the top five, with Jos Buttler and Rashid Khan level on 823 points. The Afghanistan leg-spinner has swapped places with Australian Glenn Maxwell in the latest recalculations.
Aiden Markram, compatriot Hardik Pandya, Sikandar Raza and Mitchell Marsh (now ruled out of the remainder of the competition) comprise the remainder of the top 10.
Notable movements down the standings include Tristan Stubbs moving into the top 50 for the first time. The Delhi Capital man is averaging 49 with the bat and took two wickets in the recent win over Gujarat Titans.
There are returns to the top 100 for three India superstars: Jasprit Bumrah (No.75), KL Rahul (No.87) and Ravindra Jadeja (No.90).
Jake Fraser-McGurk has meanwhile underlined his impressive rise by entering the top 300 for the first time. An injury replacement for Kagiso Rabada before the tournament, the Capitals batter has struck two half-centuries in his opening three games at a strike rate of 222.
And India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who returned to action in March after 15 months on the sidelines due to injury, is up to No.162, up more than 50 places in the latest rankings.
